Paul Neal, a principal in the Washington, D.C., office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been elected president of IARO, the International Air Rail Organisation. Neal has been IARO vice-president since 2012 and his term of office as president will run until November 2016.
“I’m looking forward to two years of challenging — but rewarding — work for IARO and the industry that the organization represents,” Neal commented. “I thank the board for its support and trust in me to lead IARO forward on a path towards development of better membership services and promotion of best practice in the air-rail industry.”
IARO is governed by an elected board, consisting of a president and vice president. The primary task of the president is to represent IARO internally and externally, drive key initiatives, and manage the overall strategy that has been developed by the board.
Neal is a long-term air-rail industry professional. At Parsons Brinckerhoff, he advises clients on project management, strategy and operations. He has been involved with IARO from its inauguration when he was operations director at Heathrow Express. He has subsequently worked as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton and as head of Surface Transport at the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority.
Established in 1996, IARO is a worldwide organization dedicated to spreading world-class best practice and good workable ideas among people involved in rail links to airports and air-rail intermodality. Its worldwide membership includes organizations planning, developing, building, and operating rail air links - and also companies who have a business interest in partnerships for their success.
