Cyclists are invited to enjoy safe and car-free cycling along the 10-miles of paved pathway beneath the Metrorail March 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Four Metrorail Stations will offer entertainment, art shows, health and fitness checkups, a bike rodeo for kids, yoga and zumba sessions, food trucks, and guided bike tours along the M-Path and to other great destinations nearby, including the Coral Gables Museum. Participants will also have an opportunity to help create a new “park” with materials provided, just south of the Dadeland North Metrorail Station.
UM’s Frost School of Music will provide performances at the Brickell Metrorail Station, alongside an art show. UHealth will provide health checks at the University Metrorail Station along with a Bike Rodeo courtesy of UM BikeSafe. The South Miami Metrorail Station will host cyclist and runner activities, gear checks and giveaways courtesy Mack Cycle & Fitness and Footworks. Baptist Health will provide a water station and additional health checks. Entertainer Paddy Kelligan provides the music.
Envision what The Underline will look like in the future with the help of conceptual renderings at the stations, and see how South Miami will transform its streets into a cycling-friendly community.
All activities are free to all cyclists, runners and walkers. Families are encouraged to participate.
This is the day to experience The Underline, whether for a short trip or the entire 10-mile length. Bicycles are allowed on Metrorail cars, so combine biking with public transportation for a great day without a car.
Bike The Underline is part of the celebration of Miami-Dade’s Bike305 Month and is presented in partnership with the city of Miami, the city of Coral Gables, the city of South Miami, the University of Miami, Friends of The Underline, and Miami-Dade Transit. Sponsors include Mack Cycle and Fitness, Manny Miranda-State Farm Agent, Miami Hitches, No Boundaries, and Shell Lumber. Community Partners Baptist Health, UHealth, UM BikeSafe, Coral Gables Museum, the Everglades Bicycle Club, Bike SoMi, Emerge Miami, and Project Dadeland are contributing services during the event.
