MTR Nordic AB is expanding its current licence for the use of Giro’s Hastus-Rail software to include using the software for MTR Express. The new premium express-train service — launched in March — connects Sweden’s two largest cities, Stockholm and Gothenburg, and will be offering 90 trips a week by August.
MTR Express was launched with Hastus modules in place for timetabling and rolling-stock scheduling, building crew member and other staff duties, optimizing crew schedules, carrying out periodic roster assignments, and managing employee assignments.
In addition, MTR has elected to move ahead with an upgrade to Hastus 2015 for all of its Swedish operations, and it is purchasing a further module to manage vehicle assignments that will make it easier to respond to any situations that require variations in daily service from planned schedules.
“In launching MTR Express, we are pleased to have been able to rely on the same Hastus functionalities that have served us so well in our operation of the Stockholm Metro,” said Jens Berndal, system manager at MTR. “Once the upgrade to Hastus 2015 is in place, we expect the enhanced functionality of the new version to be of even greater benefit to our expanded operations.”
“Giro is delighted that our software solutions for rail operations are supporting MTR Nordic’s expanded service offering,” added Odd-Jørgen Sagdahl, Giro’s director, Nordic market. “We look forward to working closely with MTR in upgrading to Hastus 2015 and implementing the additional module that will allow MTR’s employees to respond even more promptly to changing situations and ensure that vehicle assignments meet passengers’ needs.”
