Rockland County Exec Call for Fare Hike Exemption

May 20, 2015

Rockland County Executive Ed Day submitted comments to NJ Transit May 19, calling upon  MTA Metro-North Railroad (MNR) and NJ Transit (NJT) to commit to working together to provide more and better commuter rail service to Rockland County and to cover any funding shortfall for Rockland service.

“I call upon both NJT and MNR to step forward on this issue,” said Day, “starting with eliminating the proposed fare increases for Rockland County’s rail commuters and keeping the 12:45 a.m. Pascack Valley Line (PVL) departure (Train No. 1601) on the schedule.”

County Executive Day’s comments will be made part of the official public record and will be considered by the NJ Transit Board of Directors prior to implementing any fare increases or service reductions.
