MTA Subway stations throughout New York City are closing their doors to unwanted pests with the installation of Xcluder Rodent-Proof Door Sweeps.
The sweeps are installed on the stations' refuse room doors and designed to create a barrier against rats and mice. Since late 2013, more than 100 stations have installed Xcluder Door Sweeps, creating a noticeable drop in the number of rat sightings throughout each station. By the end of 2015, more than 400 Xcluder Sweeps will be installed across 200 Subway stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Rodents can enter a building through an opening as small as 1/4 inch, which makes the tiny gap beneath an unprotected door an easy target for these tenacious pests. Standard rubber door sweeps can be gnawed through easily by even the smallest of rodents, and damaged or missing door sweeps are one of the most common entry points for rodents and pests. Pest control authorities around the globe agree that exclusion – creating physical barriers to keep pests out of a home or building – is far more effective than attempting to remove them once inside.
“We are proud to support the MTA's ongoing efforts to protect its customers from rats and other pests,” said Paul Bonn, business manager, Xcluder. “We're also very proud of the tremendous feedback we've heard from local contacts regarding the positive impact our sweeps are making. Rodent-proof door sweeps are one of the most important steps in rodent-proofing a building – a simple, cost-effective solution that provides instant protection and benefits.”
