Perry, O'Reilly Reappointed to SFRTA Board
F. Martin Perry and Gerry O’Reilly were named to the governing board of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), with their terms beginning July 1. Perry was appointed as the business representative to represent Palm Beach County by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners. O’Reilly has been named to represent the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) by FDOT Secretary Jim Boxold.
Perry previously served on the SFRTA Governing Board beginning in 2008 and continuing until 2012, serving as Gov. Rick Scott’s appointee. He is an attorney with Perry & Taylor, P.A. and has extensive experience in commercial litigation, with an emphasis on mechanic’s lien and construction litigation. He also has extensive experience in major real estate transactions and land development, as well as planning, zoning and land-use law. For two years, he served as zoning counsel to Palm Beach County.
Perry is a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association and the Palm Beach County Bar Association, of which he served as president of the Young Lawyers Section from 1973-1974. He has served on the Palm Beach County Impact Fee Review Committee from 1993-2003, Palm Beach County Convention Center Advisory Committee from 1994-1995 and the Palm Beach County Land Use Advisory Board Policy Development Task Force from 1997-1998.
Active in the community, Perry serves on the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and is also a “Director for Life” of the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County Inc., of which he served as president from 1988-1991. Additionally, Perry is a director of the Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation, as well as of the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania and attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In 1966, he was awarded a Juris Doctor from the School of Law at the University of Miami.
O’Reilly has worked for the FDOT since 1988. He started out in the District Four Design Department rising through the ranks from entry level engineer to district design engineer, and on to director of transportation development in 2001. He was instrumental in advancing the $1.8 billion I-595 P3 project which is now open to traffic. On March 2, O’Reilly was appointed district secretary in District Four.
O’Reilly graduated from University College in Dublin, Ireland with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in 1984 and a Master’s in Engineering Science Degree in 1986. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida and a Chartered Engineer in Ireland. O’Reilly previously served on the SFRTA Governing Board from February to June of 2008.
