Phoenix voters cast a vote for their city’s future today by saying yes to a transportation plan that will expand our light rail system and bus service, improve streets, create more bike lanes, decrease congestion and pollution and boost economic development.
Unofficial results released late Aug. 25 showed Prop 104 passing with more than 55 percent.
“Passage of Prop 104 is a big step forward for the City of Phoenix and a monumental victory for the downtown as it continues its evolution as a live/learn/work/play destination,” said David Krietor, president and CEO of Downtown Phoenix Inc. “The transportation plan will accelerate the positive momentum we’ve experienced the last 10 years.”
As a proud supporter of the transportation plan, Downtown Phoenix Inc. will co-host a community gathering to celebrate election results and the impact those results will have on our city. Join us Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 10-11 a.m. in the first floor lobby of the US Bank tower, 101 N. 1st Avenue.
Scheduled to attend this gathering are freshly re-elected Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, members of Phoenix City Council, and representatives from Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Communities Collaborative, American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona, Friends of Transit, Local First Arizona, Phoenix Community Alliance, GRID Bike Share, Hance Park Conservancy, Downtown Voices Coalition, Evans Churchill Community Association, Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation, Artlink Phoenix, Roosevelt Row, Railmesa, WTS, and Arizona Bridge to Independent Living.
Coffee and light breakfast will be provided as participants share their perspectives on the significance of the transportation plan and make themselves available to the media.
