Alstom was awarded by Metrolinx a contract worth €113 million to provide a new computer-based integrated train control system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, one of the busiest transit areas in Canada. The commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2018. This follows the contract awarded by Metrolinx to Alstom in November 2014 to equip the Union Station Rail Corridor (USRC) with a new signalling system.
Alstom will provide its Iconis control centre solution. The system will provide Metrolinx with a view of the entire network, support to optimize each train movement and manage preventive maintenance work.
“We are pleased that Metrolinx has entrusted Alstom with this new contract to supply an integrated control centre for its regional train service. This is a continuing partnership with Metrolinx that will bring secure and efficient operations to the network,” said Angelo Guercioni, vice president and customer director, Canada, Alstom Transport.
