Dr. Jonathan Gore is joining the management team at Perpetuum as engineering director. The appointment follows the previous incumbent, David Vincent, moving to chief technology 0fficer.
Gore has spent more than 19 years in technology and engineering development activities primarily in the oil and gas sector. He has led teams of multi-disciplinary engineers in the development of complex electro-mechanical instrumentation for down-well logging and ballistic delivery applications — he brings his experience of designing products for extremely harsh environments (175 degrees Centigrade, high instantaneous shocks (>1000g) and high pressures >1000bar). Most recently, Gore worked for Guardian Global Technologies Ltd as director of engineering and was fundamental in developing new product ranges that helped Guardian to more than treble its turnover within five years.
“Perpetuum’s energy harvesting technology and remote condition monitoring system for the rail industry were compelling reasons to join this exciting company,” Gore said. “Its self-powered condition monitoring system will provide benefits in both safety and reduced maintenance costs and I plan to further develop the engineering capability in Perpetuum to deliver these benefits on to our customers.”
Gore holds a first class degree in chemistry and a doctorate of philosophy in solid state science, both from the University of Oxford; he is a chartered physicist with the Institute of Physics. His early career was spent working for QinetiQ, one of Europe’s largest independent research & development organisations, working on defense-focused research programs before embarking on an engineering career in electromechanical device development.
