BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost issued the following statement:
“BART is moving forward and committed to installing a working camera system on each and every train car as quickly as possible. Staff is already working on funding options, a procurement plan, and a deployment strategy. The safety of our riders and employees is our top priority. BART is a very safe mode of transportation with a robust surveillance system with cameras located in train cars, on platforms, in stations, and even our police officers wear cameras. The Fleet of the Future is already being produced with cameras on all train cars. Now both our existing and future cars will have security cameras.”
