TE Connectivity (TE) has announced the appointment of Al Ghelani as general manager of the Rail division of TE’s Industrial business unit. Ghelani assumes the position on June 1, 2016, and will be based in Swindon, U.K. He will report to Thomas Schmidt, president of TE Industrial. Peter van Loo, former general manager of TE’s Rail unit will move to TE Industrial Strategic Growth.
Ghelani, a UK native, has a mechanical engineering degree from Liverpool University and certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt. He was the lead of TE’s Industrial global commercial operation for the last three years. Previously, he worked 15 years at General Electric in commercial, supply chain and pricing leadership roles.
“Al has contributed significantly to TE’s Industrial business unit over the last three years,” said Schmidt. “TE’s Rail business is strategic to the company, more importantly, it is critical to our customers. Al will do an excellent job leading the Rail business.”
