SEPTA Key Early Adopters Program for Transit Riders Expanding
The SEPTA Key Early Adopters program will expand starting Monday, Aug. 1, with a limited number of Key Cards loaded with Weekly and Monthly TransPasses on sale at two major sales offices. This will be followed by the activation of additional sales offices and station fare kiosks for reloading TransPasses during August and September.
SEPTA welcomed its first customers to the Key with the launch of the Early Adopter program on June 13, offering approximately 10,000 passes for sale at fare kiosks inside stations along the Market-Frankford and Broad Street Lines. Those passes sold out by the end of June, although Key cardholders have continued to reload their TransPasses online, over the phone and at the fare kiosks. These transit pass products are valid for travel on subway lines, city and suburban bus routes and trolleys. Regional Rail and CCT Paratransit will be included in a later phase of the SEPTA Key rollout.
Starting Aug. 1, Weekly and Monthly TransPasses loaded on Key Cards will be sold at SEPTA Sales Offices located at 15th Street Station and SEPTA Headquarters at 1234 Market Street. Then, starting Monday, Aug. 8, SEPTA will expand sales and reloading of Weekly and Monthly TransPasses to sales offices at major transit terminals. Additional station kiosks will be available only for reloading of Weekly or Monthly TranPasses.
SEPTA Key is the Authority's system-wide fare modernization program. When fully implemented, all riders will be able to use SEPTA Key branded cards - or other contactless payment devices - to ride seamlessly throughout the system on all modes of travel.
Early Adopters are the first to experience some of the benefits of the SEPTA Key. For example, SEPTA Key card holders do not have to go out and get a new TransPass every week or month - the contactless card can be reloaded online, or at fare kiosks. Early Adopter participants can also register their cards to protect against loss or theft.
