MD: MTA Resumes Light Rail Service Near BWI Airport on Tuesday, October 11

Due to the replacement of a grade crossing at Andover Road, there was no Light Rail service at the two Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport stations starting October 7. 

“We are pleased to report that this necessary track work was completed on schedule and will help ensure the safety, efficiency and reliability of our Light Rail system,” said MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib. “I’d like to thank our customers for their patience during this important safety project.”

To minimize the inconvenience, MTA provided free shuttle bus service for passengers from the North Linthicum Light Rail Station to the BWI Airport Light Rail Station with stops in between at the Linthicum and BWI Business District stations. Shuttle buses operated during regular Light Rail service hours from 6 p.m. Friday, October 7, until Monday October 10. MTA transit ambassadors also were on hand during the closure to assist passengers and direct them to shuttle bus boarding locations.
