VRE Honors Major Contributors at Board Recognition Ceremony

On Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., the Virginia Railway Express held a ceremony at its Broad Run Station to honor four distinguished individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the commuter rail’s establishment and long term success.
On Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) held a ceremony at its Broad Run Station to honor four distinguished individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the commuter rail’s establishment and long term success. These individuals will be honored as part of VRE’s Board Recognition Program.
The following current and former VRE Operations Board Members were recognized for their contributions by having a VRE locomotive named for them. The honorees were:
The Honorable Maureen Caddigan
Prince William County Board of Supervisors – Potomac District
VRE operations board vice chair
The Honorable Joe Alexander
A founding member of the Operations Board and former VRE operations board chair
Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
The Honorable David Brickley
Former member, Virginia House of Delegates
Founding member of the VRE Operations Board and former VRE Operations Board chair
In addition, VRE dedicated a bench, to be placed permanently near the Manassas Station, in honor of the late Richard Peacock, long term VRE Rider and passenger rail advocate.
The ceremony took place at the VRE Broad Run Station, located at 10637 Piper Lane, Bristow, Virginia 20136.
