It is time for riders to choose their seat. Caltrain is seeking public input on the look for the seats for the new electric trains called Electric Multiple Units (EMUs).

Caltrain will conduct public outreach and polling at the following stations:

  • San Francisco Station, 4th & King Streets, San Francisco on Monday, July 24, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
  • San Mateo Station, 385 First Ave., San Mateo on Tuesday, July 25, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
  • San Jose Diridon Station, 65 Cahill St., San Jose on Friday, July 28, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Polling is also available between Thursday, July 20, and midnight, Friday, July 28, on the CalMod website and then by clicking on the seat tab.

Also at the website, users will be able to learn about some of the new electric train features, including more plentiful electrical outlets, better location and destination information, increased system-wide capacity and the configuration of passenger and bike cars.

The website will also allow the public to provide feedback on many design options over the next several months. And next year, after feedback on the design is complete, the site will feature a 360-degree virtual tour of the new trains.
