For the fourth year, Metra is joining with NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago to collect school supplies for students in need throughout the Chicago region.
Beginning Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 27, 2017, Metra customers can make donations at all five downtown Chicago Metra stations. Collection bins will be located near ticket agents or waiting areas at Chicago Union Station, Ogilvie Transportation Center, Millennium Station, LaSalle Street Station and Van Buren Street Station. Metra customers are encouraged to donate school supplies including pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, rulers, glue, crayons, markers and erasers.
All supplies collected through this drive will be distributed to students in need across the six-county region through the Boys and Girls Clubs, Communities in Schools and the McHenry County Regional Office of Education.
“We want to do our part to make sure young people have the classroom resources they need to start the school year off right,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “Collecting school supplies gives our customers an opportunity to support students in need and help them have a successful school year.”
“NBC 5 is proud to bring donated materials to young people in need throughout our viewing area through our annual school supply drive,” said David Doebler, president and general manager of NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago. “With the generous help of our partners, we can help to make sure students have the tools they need for a successful academic experience.”
