Fort Worth & Western Railroad has announced it is implementing Positive Train Control (PTC) on the necessary number of locomotives as is required by federal legislation mandating installation of PTC on all main line track.
Fort Worth & Western Railroad has announced it is implementing Positive Train Control (PTC) on the necessary number of locomotives as is required by federal legislation mandating installation of PTC on all main line track where intercity passenger railroads and commuter railroads operate, as well as on lines carrying hazardous materials.
PTC is collision avoidance technology that monitors and controls train movements. It is intended to prevent train-to-train collisions, over speed derailments, and movement of trains through switches, as well as prevent train incursions in to work areas.
FWWR has announced it has selected Herzog Technologies Inc. as its provider of PTC Hosting services. PTC hosting services allows FWWR to simplify and accelerate its PTC implementation assisting FWWR in meeting the mandated PTC deadline and to be interoperable with FWWR Host Railroads. FWWR views its investment in PTC as a commitment to the safety of its employees, its customers and the communities it serves.
