Dallas Area Rapid Transit will join with Trinity Railway Express, Denton County Transportation Authority, Trinity Metro and other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in National Get on Board Day, Thursday, April 25.

The event is a new national awareness and advocacy day showcasing the benefits public transportation brings to the communities.

Thirteen DART rail stations will be holding a 'Get on Board Blitz' from 7-9 a.m. Agency volunteers will say thank you to customers, highlight agency initiatives and promote regional public transit with gifts and prizes.

Every year, 62.5 million people 'get on board' a DART bus or train. Across the country, 34 million times each weekday, people board public transportation. Research shows that every $1 invested in public transportation generates approximately $4 in economic returns and that 87 percent of public transportation trips directly benefit the economy by getting customers to work and connecting them to local businesses.
