From Sept. 22 to Sept. 25 a total of 23 international transport companies, more than ever before, will be at InnoTrans to present their innovative mobility solutions.
Among the attractions for trade visitors will be advanced, reduced-emission transport concepts from China, Latvia, Japan, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Dubai, Russia and Austria. This year, there is a greater emphasis on inter- and multi-modal transport, which has acquired increased importance due to the expansion of digital infrastructure. Safety is another important subject for transport companies and has a particular relevance for the future direction of public transport enterprises in built-up urban areas.
This was confirmed by Obama Yuko, manager of the International Relations Department of the Japanese exhibitor Tokyo Metro: “Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. operates nine subway lines in the heart of Tokyo. As a public transport operator that carries 7.58 million passengers each day we see it as one of our main tasks to ensure the safety of our services by continuing to make improvements while at the same time providing our customers with a wider and improved range of services.”
Constantly growing international demand
Saudi Railway Company (SAR) is exhibiting with its own stand for the first time at the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology, at the CityCube. Founded in 2006, the company’s objective is to develop the national railway infrastructure in stages, while at the same time ensuring its improved safety and efficiency in the interests of its passengers:
“We from SAR want to establish and operate an effective and safe railway infrastructure that contributes in linking and developing different areas within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the use of local and international experiences. Therefore we are very glad to participate in InnoTrans 2020. At InnoTrans we will meet important business partners from all over the world who share our vision for a safer and sustainable railway infrastructure”, says Ammar Al Nahdi, Corporate Communication & Marketing Director, Saudi Railway Company.
The growing trend for intermodal transport services
Among the transport companies at InnoTrans 2020, there is evidence of a growing thematic emphasis on interconnected mobility:
“The mobility of the future will focus on the mobility of platforms, multi-modal transport and borderless interconnectedness. Linked transport systems and transport companies are increasingly working outside the confines of their own specialist areas or networks in order to be able to provide their passengers with a full range of mobility from a single source. Being involved in creating these major changes to the public transport market presents a massive opportunity and I am looking forward the next stages”, says Prof. Knut Ringat, general manager of the transport network RMV Rhein-Main Verkehrsbund.
The Berlin transport authority BVG is also presenting a number of multimodal concepts on this topic. With mobility services such as the Berlkönig ride-sharing service and the Jelbi mobility app this Berlin enterprise is demonstrating how intermodal mobility solutions can be efficiently integrated in the urban transport system. Last year, Jelbi was awarded the German Mobility Prize.
Dr. Henry Widera, head of the Central Staff Division Digitalization: “BVG is committed to ensuring ecological and simple mobility. The basis for this is provided by our buses and trains, which we are now augmenting with digitally supported services. BerlKönig binds the local transport network even closer together and our mobility platform Jelbi is doing what the BVG has always done for the past 90 years: all the city’s mobility services from a single source. We are happy to share our ideas at InnoTrans, where we are also looking for a fresh impetus.”
Mobility+ presents the interconnected mobility of the future
Innovative ideas for all aspects of expanded mobility can be experienced by trade visitors in the new section, Mobility+, in Hall 7.1c.
Along with BVG other exhibitors include Uber Germany, ioki and more than 20 international and forward-looking suppliers of mobility solutions, who are all presenting their objectives in the field of interconnected mobility. Other transport enterprises such as Deutsche Bahn, Ferrovie dello Stato and China Railway can be found on both floors at the CityCube. Also on display in the CityCube is the project of the century Rail Baltica, which is being coordinated by RB Rail AS. The planned rail route is intended to connect the cities of Warsaw, Kaunas, Riga and Tallinn.
