Starting Aug. 23, Amtrak will restore its full daily Coast Starlight service between Los Angeles and Seattle after several weeks of service interruption resulting from wildfire damage in northern California.
With infrastructure repairs now complete, customers can leverage Amtrak’s train service to travel up and down the California coast, passing through Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Portland.
The service restoration was completed two weeks ahead of schedule and makes full Coast Starlight service available for the upcoming Labor Day holiday period. The new schedule has been updated on all Amtrak reservation systems, including Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app.
Customers traveling aboard the Coast Starlight can expect the following:
- Private rooms offer an option for customers seeking privacy and space on a short trip and added comfort and amenities when traveling overnight. All customers traveling in private rooms have complimentary lounge access in stations and meals onboard.
- Customers can bring up to two checked bags, two carry-on bags and two personal items for free.
- Saver Fares are available and customers can save 20 percent over the standard Coach fare when booked 14 days in advance. Kids ride for 50 percent off every day while seniors can save 10 percent.
