Santa Clara VTA making more progress with light-rail service
Sept. 14, 2021
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) began increasing light-rail service Sept. 12 to include the entire Blue Line, from Baypointe to Santa Teresa, including all stops in between.
The authority says it thanks its riders for their patience and support as it works to bring back the full light-rail system.
The authority explained the route down to Santa Teresa took a bit longer because of work needed to repair vandalism to some of the equipment. Santa Clara VTA is requesting people that if they see something, say something and report vandalism along the transit system by contacting VTA’s Customer Service Department or download the VTAlert app.
The Orange Line, from Alum Rock to Mountain View Transit Center, is also fully operational along with part of the Green Line from Old Ironsides to Diridon Station.
Santa Clara VTA notes it is in the process of assuring that every crossing gate along the Green Line works properly along the many pedestrian and vehicle crossings on the Green Line. The authority says it anticipates opening the rest of that line very soon.
Finally, free fares, which were originally scheduled to end Sept. 12, will continue for light rail through Sept. 30.
