SYSTRA selected to lead design services during construction contract for BART’s train control modernization program
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has selected SYSTRA Consulting, Inc., (SYSTRA) to provide design services during construction (DSDC) for deployment of its next-generation train control system, Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC).
This will improve the system’s state of good repair and capacity requirements and secure customer satisfaction for the next 30 years and beyond, says SYSTRA.
“This is one of the most complex CBTC modernization programs in North America. It is important for BART and the growth of the Bay Area,” said Frederic Bana, SYSTRA, vice president, West Coast. “The SYSTRA Team is committed to BART in ensuring a successful project, working collaboratively and reinforcing our focus on quality and safety.”
SYSTRA will provide design services to support BART’s program to modernize aging and obsolete train control equipment and increase train capacity throughout its system and execute the project consistent with the CBTC supplier.
The DSDC team features CBTC experts with global experience, resulting from working on more than 40 CBTC projects around the world, and local talent from Disadvantaged, Small, Minority and Women Business Enterprises with strong ties to the communities served by BART.
“We are extremely excited about this partnership with BART,” said Stanley J. Rosenblum, SYSTRA CEO. “In addition to contributing to the success of this critical project, it also establishes SYSTRA as a leading provider of CBTC expertise in the US.”
