MTA to begin next phase of CBTC signal installation work on Queens Boulevard East line

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is set to begin the next phase of Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signal installation work on the Queens Boulevard East line.
The installation work will impact service on the E, F and R lines in Queens during the evening and overnight hours.
On March 17th, Crews will ramp up installation work between the Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens and Jamaica-179 St. stations, which will require service changes on evenings and overnights seven days a week. During that time, the E, F and R lines will have the following changes:
R Line to Forest Hills-71 Ave, Queens, ends early all nights
- After 9:30 p.m. Queens-bound R trains will end at Queens Plaza. Queens-bound E and F trains will run local in Queens to accommodate R train customers.
- There is no change in Brooklyn-bound R service.
Queens-bound F Trains run local earlier all nights
- After 9:30 p.m., Queens-bound E trains will run local from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71 Ave, continuing to Jamaica Center.
- There is no change in Manhattan-bound E service.
Brooklyn-bound F Trains run local during overnight hours all nights
- After 9:30 p.m., Queens-bound F trains will run local from 36 St, Queens, to Forest Hills-71 Ave, continuing to Jamaica-179 St.
- Starting at about 10:45 p.m. Brooklyn-bound F trains from Jamaica-179 St will run local from Forest Hills – 71 Ave to 36 St, Queens.
