Mass Transit Weekly Update 9/10/2016

Sept. 12, 2016
This week's update includes a look at Mass Transit's Top 40 Under 40, GO Transit, Amalgamated Transit Union, International (ATU), Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART).

The 2016 Top 40 Under 40 took the chance to explain in their own words what they feel are the most overlooked issues in transit, the best advice they've received from a mentor, what they would say to someone considering a career in public transit and where they think the future of the industry is headed.

GO Transit created an animated video, breaking down the complicated factors that go into rail signaling - informing their riders that when a train does happen to be delayed, there can be many factors behind it.

Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) interviewed bus drivers and members of ATU to address a serious issue in the industry - the dangers of bus blind spots and pedestrians

Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) is in the process of constructing the rail tracks for the Honolulu rail project - HART took the opportunity to showcase where they are in the progress of the tracks and Rail & Operations Control Center.

Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation's (PART) mascot took a hands-on approach showing riders how to safely and securely attach their bicycle to PART buses - the step-by-step process also reminded riders that they can still ask their bus riders if they're unsure.
