NJ Transit Police along with other first responders have used the overdose drug Narcan to save the lives of 100 people this year who were overdosing on opioids, agency officials said.
Statewide, close to 16,000 people in New Jersey have been successfully revived using Narcan since 2015, according to State Police data obtained by NJ Advance Media in April.
NJ Transit Police efforts are among the 9,162 uses of Narcan this year, as of July 31, according to the state Attorney General's "NJ Cares" website that lists opioid addition statistics.
