Seon is pleased to announce the launch of its campaign to Stop Violence against Drivers at APTA Expo in Houston, Texas, where it will also be exhibiting the latest safety solutions to keep passengers and drivers safe on public transit vehicles.

“Seon has long been a provider of safety solutions for public transit, but we wanted to do more to bring attention to the rise in operator assaults,” said Peter Simmons, director of Marketing at Seon. “Operator assaults, not only take a personal toll on the individual, but can also have a significant financial impact on the transit organization. We hope that this campaign will bring awareness to this important issue and provide the transit industry with resources, education, and solutions to reduce the risk of violence against bus operators."

Throughout the APTA Expo, Seon staff will be handing out Stop Violence Against Driver buttons at its booth, #4059, to promote the awareness campaign. They’ll also be sharing stories and best practices from other transit agencies via live tweets using the hashtags #SafeTransit and #SeonAPTAExpo.

An online ‘campaign headquarters’ at www.seon.com/safetransit will continue on the campaign after the show to help guide transit agencies to resources, other campaigns and safety products that can help reduce the risk to their workforce. At APTA booth 4059, Seon will also be showcasing its video surveillance and fleet management solutions that can help monitor passenger and operator safety in real-time, investigate assaults and identify perpetrators, and even prevent assaults from happening in the first place. APTA attendees can get a live demo of the new Web-based video management software that gives a dashboard view of surveillance operations including system health, alarms, and video download status, and lets them locate relevant video footage quickly and easily by date, time, GPS location or vehicle track.

Seon will also feature its HD camera and 13-channel DVR which will record a high-resolution view of what’s happening on and around the bus synchronized with telemetry data such as speed, direction, and GPS co-ordinates for total fleet awareness. Finally, Seon will demonstrate its live viewing technology that lets transit operators and security staff tap into live video from any installed bus cameras in case of emergency.
