Port Authority of Allegheny County will honor K-9 Officer Aren at a memorial service on Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Allegheny County Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial on the North Shore.
The five-year-old German shepherd was killed Sunday while responding to an incident in Wilkinsburg.
Members of the public and the media are invited to attend the event, which will celebrate K-9 Aren's life, and the honorable and dedicated service he provided to both the Port Authority Police Department and his handler, Officer Brian O'Malley.
A procession of police officers representing several departments will begin shortly before 11 a.m. from a staging area on the East Busway.
Members of the public and the media who wish to attend the event should plan to be at the Allegheny County Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial along North Shore Drive near Heinz Field by 11 a.m.
