Transdev North America is excited to announce that its public-private operating partnership in New Orleans has secured the agency’s second Transportation Security Administration Gold Standard Award for a stellar transit security program focused on the safety of passengers.
The New Orleans RTA is one of 13 transit agencies recognized by TSA this year for receiving the highest rating on the Baseline Assessment for Security Enhancement (BASE) program. The “Gold Standard” is awarded for results achieved in the BASE review for the previous calendar year. The BASE assessment evaluates agencies’ security programs and identifies opportunities to further enhance them
“Ensuring the safety of 55,000 daily riders is a task we take seriously every minute of every day,” said Justin T. Augustine, vice president of Transdev and general manager in service to the Regional Transit Authority in New Orleans (RTA). “Our exceptional team honors our standards through a constant commitment to safeguarding the traveling public. We’re thrilled that their commitment has been recognized.”
Transdev operates all aspects of the transit system on behalf of New Orleans Regional Transit Authority as part of a public-private operating partnership that started in 2009, the first such partnership in the country. This is the second time the New Orleans RTA has won the Gold Standard Award since that partnership began—also winning the award in 2011.
“These agencies are to be commended for their commitment and hard work that this level of achievement requires, and for their continued dedication to ensure the security of travelers nationwide,” said TSA Assistant Administrator Eddie Mayenschein, who oversees the Office of Security Policy and Industry Engagement.
