The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) won the Indiana Transportation Association (ITA) Safety Award for 2015. The honor was announced at the recent ITA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis.
The Safety Award is presented annually and is determined by the lowest accident frequency rate based on the number of revenue miles traveled and total number of accidents. Transpo experienced a 48% reduction in preventable fleet accidents in 2015.
“We are honored to be recognized for our continued commitment to safety and commend our operators, mechanics and entire Transpo team for their dedication”, said David Cangany, Transpo general manager and CEO. “Transpo is dedicated to providing safe and reliable service, providing vital connections to employment, healthcare, educational and recreational opportunities throughout the community”, continued Cangany.
