Two Washington Metro Employees Injured on Green Line Track

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., on January 4, two Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) employees were injured while making repairs on the track between Fort Totten and West Hyattsville.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., on January 4, two Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) employees were injured while making repairs on the track between Fort Totten and West Hyattsville. Based on initial reports, it is believed that one worker sustained an electrical shock when a metal rod he was carrying came in contact with the electrified third rail. A second track employee sustained injuries while attempting to aid his coworker. Both employees have been transported to local hospitals where their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening. The incident is under investigation.
