The morning of December 13, at approximately 2:24 A.M. a call came in reporting a fire at the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority’s Six Points Transfer Station, located at the intersection of Ayers, Alameda, and Staples St. No injuries or deaths have been reported and the transfer station has been closed due several construction projects occurring on that road.
The fire department and the Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating this as arson. It is unclear how the fire started.
“The safety and security of our customers is our number one priority for all events,” said CEO, Jorge Cruz-Aedo. “We are glad no one was injured and we are investigating the facts currently.”
The fire appears to have started in the portable toilet located at the transfer station that operators may use if they do not go by any other transfers stations. The toilets are kept secure.
The routes that were still using this station were already rerouted to the stop at Brownlee in front of the Office Depot due to the road construction occurring near the station. The routes that were already rerouted were: 5, 17, 19 and 29.
The station is closed until further notice. If you have more information, please call the CCRTA at their confidential hotline at 361-903-3456.
