The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, in partnership with local, state and federal responders, will conduct an exercise designed to help prepare LYNX to protect customers and employees during the response to an active shooter incident. The purpose of the exercise is to allow LYNX to assess capabilities, plans, policies and procedures to be implemented during an emergency, ultimately resulting in stronger interagency coordination that will support a safer Central Florida community.
This exercise will be conducted on Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at LYNX Central Station, the agency’s main administrative and customer facility, in downtown Orlando, Fla. To provide maximum benefit to participants, the exercise is designed to be realistic and will involve live actors simulating both assailants and victims and real-world first responders reacting to the incident in real time. All efforts will be made to limit the impact to customers during this time period, however, some routes may be affected and the ticket window will be closed. Customers are encouraged to purchase passes in advance or use the LYNX PawPass mobile pay app.
