British Safety Council audit says National Express West Midlands is world’s safest public transport company
National Express West Midlands has been judged the safest public transport company of all those audited across the world by the British Safety Council.
The Birmingham, England-based bus operator scored 99.17 percent in its recent Five Star Health and Safety Audit, placing it fifth of all logistics companies audited by the British Safety Council.
Organizations from more than 77 countries across the world put themselves forward for an in-depth audit by an external assessor. The challenging tests go beyond legal health and safety minimum requirements to judge companies on absolute best practice in safety culture, leadership and wellbeing.
“The British Safety Council’s Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit is the most comprehensive solution in the market today,” said James Lewis, head of audit and consultancy at British Safety Council. “It allows companies to go beyond compliance and prove the value of their hard work with a highly recognized stamp of excellence in health and safety standards. National Express West Midlands’ score of 99.17 percent is a very impressive result and everyone in the company should be very proud.”
“This is a much-deserved reflection of everyone's hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to health and safety,” said Mark Heffernan, director of operations and safety, National Express. “This score shows that National Express West Midlands’ Target Zero ethos has been firmly embedded in every garage and every office across this company - and that is so good to see.”
