The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) added 20 new MTA Police Officers to its ranks on Oct. 12, 2022, following the officers graduation from the New York Police Department Academy in Queens.

“MTA Police Officers provide a visible law enforcement presence throughout the transportation network,” said MTA Police Department Chief John Mueller. “These new officers are joining a department crucial to protecting both riders and employees, and I am excited to welcome them to the force.”

The MTA Police Department is primarily responsible for patrolling and securing Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station, MTA yards and shops and the more than 5,000-square mile footprint of the MTA’s commuter railroads from Montauk to Poughkeepsie. MTA police officers work in nine districts across 14 counties in New York and Connecticut.
