Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) has released engaging new educational materials helping children from Pre-K through age 12 prepare to make safe choices when riding transit and commuter trains.
New resources include:
- An engaging animated Public Service Announcement (PSA) for young children in 75-, 60- and 30-second versions.
- A coloring book for Pre-K children with signs, trains and scenes to color.
- An activity book for elementary-age children with a word search, crossword, matching game and more.
OLI’s “See Tracks? Think Train!®” mascot, known as ST3, comes to life in the PSA and teaches a diverse group of young riders how to make safe choices on transit platforms, as well as when riding trains. The coloring book for the youngest riders and activity book for older kids also feature ST3, capturing kids’ attention with fun images to color and engaging activities that teach important safety concepts in an entertaining way.
“Our new PSA and materials for kids show them how to make safe choices when riding transit,” says OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh. “We want parents and caregivers to know about these fun, free, rail safety education materials and share them with the children in their lives, teaching the importance of staying safe around tracks and trains.”
OLI also recently launched transit safety pledges for pre-readers and ages 5-12, as well as adults.
“We encourage everyone – adults and children – to take our Transit Safety Pledge and share the rail safety message with friends and family. Together, we can stop track tragedies,” Maleh said.
