Public interest is growing in electric vehicles (EVs) and their contribution to the reduction of harmful gas emissions. In response, the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) will designate 10 EV reserved parking spaces at five stations in New Jersey beginning Monday, August 15. Additionally, PATCO is conducting a survey to gauge public interest in the addition of EV charging stations to these parking spaces.
"Electric vehicles will certainly play a role in the future of transportation. One of the ways we can encourage sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship is through the designation of electric vehicle preferred parking spots, which in turn adds value for our riders," said John Rink, PATCO general manager. "This decision demonstrates our continuing dedication and responsibility to the environment and our customers."
The new EV preferred parking will be located at the following PATCO stations:
Lindenwold
Ashland
Woodcrest
Haddonfield
Westmont
Two spots will be reserved for EVs at each of the five stations.
