Parking fees to increase at BART's West Oakland Station 9/5/17
There will be a $0.50 daily parking fee increase at Bay Area Rapid Transit's West Oakland Station starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. The increased fee will be $9.50.
The single-day reserved will also increase on September 5, 2017 and the monthly reserved fees will increase October 1, 2017.
Background information on Parking Fees
Parking lot usage is evaluated every 6 months. If the lot at a station is full, then the daily parking fee may increase by 50¢. If the lot is less than 95 percent full, then the fee may decrease by 50¢. BART's parking fee policy has a $3 parking daily fee maximum, except at West Oakland. Single Day, Monthly and Airport/Long-Term reserved parking permit prices are also covered by this policy and will also increase. Any change in parking fees will remain in effect for at least 6 months. All revenue raised from these new fees will go to programs for improved station access, rehabilitation, and modernization. If customers use their Clipper card to pay for parking, their autoload amount may be adjusted.
How to Pay for Parking
Clipper Card
The Clipper Card is the easiest way to pay for this new parking fee. Customers must sign up in advance g to link their Clipper card to BART’s parking payment program. Once customers have a Clipper Card and submit an application to link it to BART’s parking program (called EZ Rider), they will receive your hang tag for their car by mail. It takes a few days to process applications. Then customers simply tag the card inside the paid area at a Parking Validation Machine. There is no need to remember the stall number or to pay with cash on a daily basis.
Cash
When customers park, they need to remember their parking stall number. Once inside the paid area, go to an Add Fare Machine, enter their stall number and their money. Save the receipt that comes out at the bottom of the Add Fare Machine. There is no need to display anything in the vehicle.
Blue Ticket
Customers may also pay for parking with Blue Ticket, but that Blue Ticket must be the same one used to enter the fare gates. Once inside the fare gates, customers must enter the stall number from their parking space into an Add Fare Machine and insert the Blue BART Ticket, and save their receipt.
All money generated from these new parking fees will be placed into a special account to be used only for programs to improve station access, including shuttle and feeder service to stations, and much needed station rehabilitation and modernization.
