BART begins North Berkeley Station access improvements

Jan. 3, 2022
The project will include bicycle and pedestrian access improvements in the satellite parking lots to the northwest of the station as well as the main station area.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit is continuing its construction work for the North Berkeley Access Improvements project, which is expected to continue through the end of Spring 2023.

The project will include bicycle and pedestrian access improvements in the satellite parking lots to the northwest of the station as well as the main station area.

Work will be done in phases, starting in two small areas in the North Reserved (Permit) Parking Lot.

Please note the following:

  • Pedestrians will be temporarily routed around the work area to the sidewalk in front of the station entrance.
  • Cyclists coming from the north and west will be temporarily routed to Virginia Street.
  • Vehicle access to the North Reserved (Permit) Parking Lot will be maintained during construction, but the driveway will be reduced to a single lane and the lot will be converted to a Daily Fee area. Please use caution.
  • Reserved (Permit) parking will remain available in the South Reserved (Permit) Parking Lot, directly opposite the station plaza to the south.
  • Zipcar, GIG and GetAround parking spaces will be relocated to spaces along Virginia Street.
  • Some parking spaces will be interrupted, primarily along the south edge of the North Reserved (Permit) Parking Lot and in the small parking lot adjacent to the BART substation, near Virginia Street.

Most work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with occasional weekend work.
