Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has re-opened a long-closed secondary Station Agent booth at UN Plaza Station, bolstering BART’s ongoing efforts to enhance the rider experience and increase personnel presence in stations.
The booth, which was closed for more than a decade, is located at the station’s UN Plaza entrance. The BART Operations Department made the decision to reopen it in December to provide increased customer service as BART welcomes back riders from the pandemic. The primary Station Agent booth is located in the same paid area, near the 7th St. entrance.
In addition to underscoring BART’s commitment to safety and customer service, the reopening of the booth reflects BART's strides in recruiting and training frontline staff. Later this year, BART expects all Station Agent openings to be filled.
The newly reopened booth – one of three Station Agent booths throughout the station – services one of the busiest entrances in the Civic Center/UN Plaza Station. The station is located at a major nexus of commerce, arts and entertainment that includes San Francisco City Hall, the Orpheum Theatre, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, the Main Branch of the San Francisco Public Library and the Asian Art Museum, among others.
