RTC of Southern Nevada launches open payments
Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) transit users can now pay for their single ride bus fare with a debit/credit card, mobile wallet, or smart watch
RTC, in partnership with Masabi, has launched the Open Payments solution across its entire network. With Masabi's open platform Justride, the solution will help to provide both convenience and speedy boarding, making it easier and more intuitive for passengers to ride the region’s buses.
“We are pleased to make it even more convenient for residents and visitors to travel throughout our community,” said RTC CEO M.J. Maynard. “We understand that not everyone wants to carry a paper pass or download another app and believe this new feature will help make the payment process more convenient, intuitive and efficient while giving riders more payment options.”
To deliver the solution, Masabi selected the Visa Acceptance Platform to seamlessly and securely accept contactless payments, manage risk and provide tokenization services while also leveraging its acquiring partnership with Worldpay from FIS. The combined offering delivers a unique off-the-shelf configuration that is now available to all Justride customers in the United States and includes pre-integrated validators, Level 3 EMV pre-certification and a Merchant of Record service.
“The Visa Acceptance Platform was created to help partners like Masabi easily integrate advanced payment services and bring innovative solutions to market that can change the way people pay in their everyday lives,” said Dan Sanford, head of product and solutions, North America at Visa. “In this case, we’re transforming how transit agencies accept fares so riders can get around faster and more conveniently.”
Currently, Mastercard, Visa, Apple Pay and Google Pay are being accepted with the Open Payments system through the Justride platform.
