King County Metro’s GO Ticket app now accepting cash

May 24, 2021
This will provide a more flexible customer experience, particularly for passengers without a bank account or credit card.

Passengers using King County Metro Transit’s GO Ticket app can now purchase tickets with cash.

While most customers rely on their ORCA card or their Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP) on transit, using the Transit GO Ticket app on a smartphone is a great option if riders forget their pass, don’t have exact change or if they are an infrequent rider.

With the app now accepting cash, King County Metro can provide a more flexible customer experience for everyone. It will be particularly helpful to customers with fewer resources—including those without a bank account or credit card.

Transit GO Tickets continue to be accepted by:

  • King County Metro (including buses, Seattle Streetcar, water taxi and other modes);
  • Kitsap Transit (including buses and ferries—including fast ferries); and
  • Sound Transit (including buses, Link light rail and Sounder rail).

Passengers can buy Transit Go Tickets with cash at participating retail locations. (Please note that Sound Transit products are not available at this time for the cash upload feature. Only Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Streetcar, and Water Taxi products are supported by cash uploads.)

The latest information is available on the Transit GO Ticket webpage. Another recent update is that customers can view the Transit GO Ticket app in Chinese, in addition to English and Spanish. And look for new promotion codes for mobile tickets from King County Metro in the near future.
