Metro board members, along with Metro president & CEO Tom Lambert, chief information officer Denise Wendler and Q Mobile Ticketing beta testers are inviting members of Houston's news media are invited to witness the launch of Metro's new "Q Mobile Ticketing" smartphone app. The event will highlight technology that is transforming public transportation.
Metro's brand new Q Mobile Ticketing mobile app gives customers the convenience they want for buying and presenting fares securely - from their mobile phones - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Once riders download Q Mobile Ticketing, they can pay by debit, credit card or PayPal. As soon as payment is authorized the ticket(s) is downloaded onto the smartphone and can be activated immediately. Tickets may also be stored for future use. The ticket is valid for three hours once activated and covers free transfers in all directions. The app may be used on local bus and rail only at this time.
The launch will take place on Monday Feb. 29, 10:00 a.m. at the Metro Headquarters (Downtown Transit Center) Lobby, 1900 Main St., Houston, 77002
