UTA launches bus capacity information via Transit app

Oct. 9, 2020
Riders will provide anonymous responses once on the bus regarding how crowded the vehicle is.

Utah Transit Administration (UTA) bus passengers can now utilize the Transit app to see how crowded their bus is via the Go feature in the app.

UTA says since its partners with Transit, its riders get to try this out a month before general users.

How it works

Download the Transit app. Tap GO for step-by-step navigation. Once on the bus, it asks users how crowded the bus is. The anonymous responses will be shared with other riders for the next 10 minutes before expiring. This works on TRAX and FrontRunner as well. The more people that use this feature, the more useful it will be.

The feature allows users to in real-time relay information to fellow riders, allowing them to make different choices about where and when to board. At the same time, UTA says it continues to monitor ridership closely and adjust as needed to support social distancing.
