Giro is pleased to welcome key additions to its senior management team, as the company continues to expand its international presence.
“These appointments reinforce the experienced and knowledgeable team that we have in place and will enable us to further develop new services and markets,” said Paul Hamelin, Giro’s president.
Marc Renaud has joined Giro as general manager of services engineering. Renaud will provide strategic guidance with regard to locally provided services in support of larger-scale software deployments. He was most recently group chief information officer for a global public transportation operator. Prior to this role, Renaud gained extensive experience holding key positions with Veolia Environment and IBM. He holds an engineering degree in telecommunications from Telecom Paritech in Paris.
Arjan van Andel has been named director of business development. Van Andel will play a key role in identifying and leading strategic business-development opportunities. He joins Giro after holding several high-level positions with software and technology companies in the public transportation sector. Van Andel is an active member of various associative technology committees and he has spoken at numerous conferences in Europe and North America during his career. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and Logistics from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
Stefan Gemperli has been appointed director of public transport software for the Canadian market. In this role, Gemperli will oversee the Hastus project team for Canada, and ensure client objectives are met. Gemperli was most recently director of computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems at SNC-Lavalin. He led an expert team for the evaluation and implementation of the iBUS project (AVL and passenger information system) at the Société de transport de Montréal. Prior to his career at SNC-Lavalin, Gemperli held a variety of management positions in product development and international sales spanning 20 years with a public transportation software and technology company in Switzerland. He holds a Software engineering degree from the Bern University of Applied Sciences.
These appointments are effective immediately.
