Siemens launches rugged cellular router to address distributed intelligence needs in harsh environments.
Siemens Ruggedcom RX1400 is a multiprotocol intelligent node which combines Ethernet switching, routing, VPN, and firewall functionality with various WAN connectivity options. The device operates continuously within a -40° C to +85° C temperature range using a fanless design, and is equipped with a metal housing that supports DIN rail, panel, or rack mounting.
Similar to the existing products in the Ruggedcom portfolio, the RX1400 is IEC61850-3 and IEEE 1613 Class 2 compliant.
The Ruggedcom RX1400 supports primary communications over commercial 4G (LTE) networks and leverage LTE’s enhanced capabilities for QoS (Quality of Service) management. The device is able to rollback to 2G and 3G wireless connectivity. In addition the cellular router is equipped with a dual SIM card slot which enables automatic failover in case of interruption in communication with the primary cellular provider. The device can also be used with two optional small form factor pluggable fiber optic transceivers (SFPs), to establish wireline communication in areas where fiber is available. The integrated GNSS (GPS/GLONASS) functionality allows the device to report its location as necessary for asset tracking purposes in large scale deployments.
- Integrated 4G (LTE) Modem with rollback to 2G and 3G networks for reliability
- Dual SIM card slot for service provider redundancy and automatic failover
- Rugged utility-grade design for demanding applications like Electric Power, Transportation, Defense Systems and Oil & Gas.
