LRT passengers can now take advantage of wifi service at the Southgate LRT Station.
Until now, the City’s free public wifi service has been available in a number of city-operated public locations but not in LRT stations or platforms. The new Southgate pilot location will allow the City to test the service before expanding into further locations.
The city expects to extend wifi service throughout 2015/16.
The city is always looking for ways to improve access to information and services. Expanding wireless service to LRT stations and platforms is seen as an important part of becoming an open city.
The new Open City initiative guides the development of innovative solutions in an effort to connect Edmontonians to city information, programs, services and engagement opportunities.
