ETA Transit Scores Again with Cheyenne Transit Agency
ETA Transit Systems announced the completion of its contract to equip 19 vehicles of Cheyenne Transit Agency with the newest CAD/AVL and demand response equipment and software.
The contract, awarded through public bid in 2014, charged ETA Transit and partners REI and Engraph Software, to outfit its fleet of 19 vehicles with Computer Aided Dispatch and Automated Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) systems powered by ETA’s SPOT technology. This upgrade included the creation of a public website to track Cheyenne’s six routes, offering riders real-time arrivals of upcoming buses.
The software implementation provided Cheyenne Transit with para-dispatch capabilities allowing the agency to achieve automated NTD-compliant reporting. “The implementation couldn’t have gone more smoothly,” says Cheyenne Transit Assistant Director Renae Jording. “ETA’s systems have helped to streamline operations, improve efficiencies, and increase our riders’ satisfaction.”
Next up in 2015 is an upgrade of the Cheyenne Transit fleet to include ADA-compliant on-board automatic announcements. The ADA module provides Cheyenne the ability to automatically announce upcoming stops, and supports ad-hoc and GPS-based announcements. Jording adds, “The ADA compliant announcements and ability to provide riders location based information, is a big step in providing the best experience to both our riders and drivers.”
