The city of Edmonton is now offering Wi-Fi service at six LRT stations.
Earlier in 2015, the city launched the Southgate Open City Wi-Fi pilot which allowed the city to test the service before expanding into further locations. Wi-Fi service has now been added to these stations:
- University LRT Station
- Health Sciences/Jubilee LRT Station
- McKernan/Belgravia LRT Station
- South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park LRT Station
- Century Park LRT Station
All stations on the Capital line are scheduled to have Open City Wi-Fi availability by the end of 2015. The Open City Wi-Fi sign on will be the same as other city-owned public Wi-Fi locations. Users can access the free public Wi-Fi by selecting Open City Wi-Fi from the list of wireless networks from their devices. Users are still expected to read and agree with the Terms and Conditions of Use before being granted access to Open City WiFi.
Under the Open City guidance, the city of Edmonton is committed to becoming a connected city, reducing barriers to information and providing access to services through digital networks, connecting people wherever they are.
