Quintiq has announced that its planning and optimization software platform has been selected by Tisséo to optimize strategic workforce planning.
Tisséo provides metro, bus and tram services for Toulouse in France. It serves nearly a million passengers a year, and its transport network is rapidly growing. Accurate workforce demand forecasting for the company’s 1,400 bus and tram drivers is becoming increasingly complex. Tisséo realized that it needed a software platform that could incorporate its workforce planning constraints while supporting its business objectives of improving workforce forecasting, cost-efficiency, and service levels.
With its track record in advanced operations modeling, analysis, and optimization, Quintiq will deliver to Tisséo a 100%-fit solution that incorporates all relevant constraints and requirements. The Quintiq platform will help the company plan 1,400 drivers up to one year in advance, according to strict annual leave rules to minimize the impact of staff leave on service level agreements. It will include rules for periodic cultural and sports events so that fluctuations in driver demand can be managed more effectively. Tisséo’s planners will be able to simulate workforce scenarios based on anticipated bus and tram network service demand, thus allowing them to anticipate long-term capacity needs. Training and recruitment requirements will be made visible to all stakeholders, and planning will accommodate the workforce’s mixed skill sets.
Quintiq will also play a part in helping Tisséo better adhere to its budget constraints. It will enable the company to provide more detailed and reliable reporting of planned and actual expenditure to the relevant public authority, the SMTC (Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun).
