Nomad Digital will share its insight on several new ground-breaking solutions at a major WiFi communications event from 8-9 June in London.

Nomad is sponsoring and speaking at Train Communications Systems (which it has attended every year since 2006) addressing an audience of key train operators and industry leaders.

Nomad will share insight into a ground-breaking technology solution which they have delivered as a world-first in the North American marketplace - a strategic, innovative partnership with a leading US rail systems integrator. Utilising Nomad’s unique combination of on-board and on-shore rail experience and digital expertise, it procured, designed and configured the very first WiMAX trackside system to support operationally critical rail signalling communications in North America. The solution provides communications for critical operational applications such as positive train control, closed-circuit television, passenger emergency information, public announcement and maintenance data systems.

The company will also explain how both directly and in partnership with leading media providers, it has delivered state-of-the-art, on-board media and infotainment services, allowing passengers to enjoy access to popular TV shows, movies and other relevant content while on their journey.

In addition, in an exciting collaboration with a major European train operator, Nomad has developed a world-first live terrestrial broadcast TV solution over IP for the rail market, which will transform the way passengers consume media and content over the coming years.

Jay Saw, Nomad’s commercial director, will be presenting on Day 1, and will outline how ‘The Digital Train is a now a Reality’, and how Nomad has “put their strategy into action” to create innovation and technical leadership for their customers across the world. Jay will illustrate how Nomad’s shared connectivity architecture provides a future-proofed “service delivery platform” that enables operators to integrate a range of applications, while delivering an improved passenger experience and higher levels of safety, reliability and overall operational performance of fleets.

Jay commented, “We have several very exciting new developments that really demonstrate our unique blend of in-depth rail knowledge and digital expertise. This combination is a unique selling point for us and a key differentiator.  It enables us to really push the boundaries with partners on such exciting developments as WiMAX trackside connectivity, loaded media content and live TV - a truly ground-breaking development and industry game changer, which aligns very well with our OBIS strategy across Europe and the North America.”

Nomad is also preparing for a host of other industry events this year, to meet face-to-face with its customers. It will have another impressive stand presence at InnoTrans in September, building on its attendance over the last 10 years. While it is also attending AusRail in November and Rolling Stock Fleet Maintenance in December.
